Variable Text Effects
The Variable text on a curve features allow designes to draw variable text curves using an intuitive set of intuitive curve-drawing tools, place variable text on that curve, preview, and output variable text on the curve to any of the nine available output formats.
Soft drop-shadow effects can be applied to variable text with control over shadow offset, opacity, blur, and angle.
New User Interface
Extensive enhancements to user interface including a new toolbar in Acrobat, new frame dialogues, "Steps" palette, and "Document Overview" palette.
Redesigned FusionPro toolbar in Acrobat with quick-access workflow buttons.
All variable frame dialogues (text, graphic, and chart) have been completely redesigned.
New "Steps" palette presents the 7 steps in the FusionPro VDP workflow process. Great for new FusionPro users or users completely new to the VDP workflow.
New "Document Overview" palette shows a graphical representation of all pages and variable frames on those pages – similar to the layers palette in other Adobe products.
New Easy-to-Use Dialogues for Business Rules Creation
New "templated rules" – an industry first - present simple dialogue boxes to collect information from VDP designers without the need to edit JavaScript for those rules. 20 of these templated rules for some of the most common rule types are included in the product and they are extendable with Printable or user-created templated rules files.
Examples of the included templated rules includes creating a barcode, sequential numbering, creating salutations based on a gender field, simple number comparisons, creating an inline graphic, and phone number formatting. Printable will be publishing free additional templated rules in the FusionPro Knowledge base for 4.0 customers.
Numerous Enhancements to Imposition
- Chop cut impositions with "outside only" bleeds support! Eliminate bleed on items placed next to one another while maintaining bleed on the outside edges of that item.
- Rotation of individual items in a multi-up imposition
- Set the starting corner and direction of placement of imposed items. For example, place item 1 in lower-left corner of sheet.
- Duplex – set sheet to flip on short or long edge
- Duplex – set output to be face-up or face-down in the output
- New "infinite stack" setting will automatically figure out the most efficient way to stack a given job based on record count.
- Stack can be set higher than 999.
- Speed improvements to deep-stack (high stack value) impositions.
QuarkXPress 7 Export Plug-ins Now Available
- QuarkXPress 7.x on Windows
- QuarkXPress 7.x on Mac
- QuarkXPress 7.x "Universal Binary" version is supported on Intel-Macs
Variable Text Editor Improvements
- Suppress if empty capability will suppress entire paragraphs that contain any empty variables thus eliminating the need for JavaScript programming. For example: Fax: <> - the entire line, including "Fax: " will be suppressed if <> is empty for a given record.
- Copyfitting improvement – force copyfit text to not break across two or more lines. Important for certain VDP requirements such as long email address
- Zoom control in variable text editor to effectively view very large or very small text
- Variable text editor enhancement to allow for the viewing of variable text that is white
General VDP capabilities enhancement
- Support for EPS graphics that are smaller than 1" X 1"
- New abilities to set formatted text style overrides (do you want to use the style specified in the formatted text resource or override it with the style of the variable inserting that resource).
- Frame locking controls. Allows user to "lock" frame content and/or frame properties. Prevents accidental editing of frames. Also used in the FusionPro Live workflow.
- New ability to scale a variable graphic to "fit to shortest edge". For example, a 1" X 2" variable graphic set to "fit to shortest edge" in a 2" X 1" frame will scale up to 2" X 4". Clip control used to specify if graphic flows out of the frame or not.
